CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Seven members of the University of Miami rowing team earned awards from the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) following the 2018 season.

Kathleen Hanson was selected to the 2018 Division I All-Conference Teams, while Alexa Aguilar, Halle Alitz, Bridget Boland, Taegan Lynch, Jane Moore and Lily Wittle were named 2018 National Scholar-Athlete award recipients. Hanson earned her second all-conference honor of the year, after previously being selected to the All-ACC Second Team following the 2018 ACC Rowing Championships. The freshman from Melbourne, Australia helped Miami's Varsity Eight win the Petite Final at the 2018 ACC Rowing Championships. In addition to the conference regatta, Hanson was a member of the Varsity Eight at the Longhorn Invitational after rowing on Miami's 2V8+ at the Knecht Cup and Sunshine State Invitational, as well as on the 2V4+ in head-to-head racing against UCF and Wisconsin and at the Cardinal Invitational. Aguilar earned her second CRCA National Scholar-Athlete honor. A senior, she earned her degree in creative advertising to wrap up a solid four-year career with the Canes.
In 2018, Aguilar was a member of the Varsity Eight for the majority of the season and helped the Hurricanes win the Petite Final at the ACC Championships. Aguilar is an eight-time Book Buster and has earned Athletic Director's Honor Roll and Dean's List seven times and Provost's Honor Roll once. Alitz picked up her first CRCA National Scholar-Athlete distinction. A sophomore from Boston, Mass., she helped Miami's Second Varsity Four win the Petite Final at the ACC Rowing Championships. Alitz, who was named All-ACC Academic in 2017, also represented the Hurricanes at the Longhorn Invitational, Sunshine State Invitational and Cardinal Invitational. An English major, Alitz has made the Provost's Honor Roll, Dean's List, Athletic Director's Honor Roll and Book Buster Club four times each and earned President's Honor Roll once. Boland was named a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete for the first time in her career. A senior from Rhineback, N.Y., Boland was a steady member of Miami's top two varsity boats, representing the Canes in the Varsity Eight at the Knecht Cup and Sunshine State Invitational and as a member of the 2V8+ at the ACC Championships, Longhorn Invitational and Cardinals Invitational.
Boland was in graduate school in 2018, working towards a master of science in sport administration. She earned a bachelor's degree in sport administration following the 2016-17 academic year and has earned five Book Buster honors and Athletic Director Honor Roll distinctions, as well as two Dean's List recognitions and one Provost's Honor Roll.
Lynch earned her third CRCA National Scholar-Athlete honor of her career, joining Sarah Aschebrock, Breanna Hayton, Caitlin Lowe and Hannah Meister as Canes to receive three straight CRCA National Scholar-Athlete honors. A team captain, Lynch helped Miami's Varsity Eight win the Petite Final at the ACC Championships and led the Canes' top varsity boat all season. The senior earned her bachelor's degree in exercise physiology and closed out her career as an eight-time Book Buster and Athletic Director's Honor Roll selection, while making the Dean's List five times and Provost's Honor Roll and President's Honor Roll once each. Moore received her first National Scholar-Athlete honor following her final season competing for the Hurricanes. A senior from Darien, Conn., Moore was a four-year member of Miami's Varsity Eight.

An injury cut her senior season short, but Moore represented the Canes at three ACC Rowing Championships and was a key member of the Varsity Eight that won the Petite Final at the conference regatta in 2016 and 2017. Moore earned her bachelor's degree in political science and closed out her career as an eight-time Book Buster and Athletic Director's Honor Roll recipient, while earning Dean's List four times and Provost's Honor Roll three times. A junior majoring in marine science, Wittle earned her second CRCA National Scholar-Athlete award and served primarily as the coxswain for Miami's Second Varsity Eight in 2018.
She guided the 2V8+ to top three finishes at the Governor's Cup and second place finishes at the Sunshine State Invitational. An outstanding student, Wittle has earned Book Buster honors, Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Dean's List, Provost's Honor Roll and President's Honor Roll in all six of her semesters at Miami. The 2018 Division I All-Conference Teams replace the previous All-Region award given by the CRCA. These awards recognize the outstanding performances of rowers and coxswains from each Division I rowing conference. These athletes, along with others who compete at the NCAA Championships, will be eligible for 2018 All-America awards selection. To be eligible to be honored as a CRCA Scholar-Athlete, the student-athlete must have met all eligibility rules as defined by her institution, be in her second, third, or fourth year of eligibility have rowed in her institution's NCAA or IRA eligible boat(s) for a minimum of 75% of the current spring races or racing in a regional conference and have had a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher for her career (through the fall semester/quarter for the current competition year).
